Stakeholder engagement
Identifying, understanding and building productive relationships with the people and organisations that shape outcomes.
Building understanding, trust and lasting relationships between projects, stakeholders and the communities they affect.
Complex projects need more than good plans. They need conversations that build confidence, create understanding and give people a genuine voice.
Hitchwood is a specialist consultancy providing strategic community and stakeholder engagement. We help organisations navigate sensitive issues, build constructive relationships and engage meaningfully throughout the life of a project.
How we work
Patrick Kelly is Director of Hitchwood, specialising in community and stakeholder engagement for major infrastructure and planning projects. His experience spans aviation, rail, highways and water, including work on Heathrow expansion, HS2 and Tideway.
Before moving into infrastructure, Patrick served with the Metropolitan Police, including a specialist role in Designing Out Crime. That experience informs his approach to understanding local concerns, handling sensitive conversations and building trust.
He brings a practical, straightforward approach to helping project teams work constructively with communities, local authorities and other stakeholders, from early planning through to delivery.
Start a conversationFrom early strategy to delivery on the ground, we bring clarity and care to the conversations that matter.

THE HITCHWOOD PHILOSOPHYEvery project, place and community is different. Our approach is grounded in listening first, communicating clearly and following through.
We identify the issues, relationships and local perspectives that matter most.
We shape engagement around clear objectives and meaningful opportunities to participate.
We open constructive conversations through the right channels, at the right time.
We turn feedback into insight and help teams demonstrate how engagement has informed decisions.
Whether a project is emerging, in consultation or moving into delivery, constructive engagement makes a difference.
Tell us what you're working on and where you need support. We'd welcome the conversation.
